Overview

Responsibilities
- Work as a member of the manufacturing engineering team on complex projects; design, program, simulate, and test automated machinery and processes; construct equipment and fixtures; analyze production processes to assess automation’s best use; perform regular maintenance on automation equipment, troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration. Experience with automated electromechanical / mechatronic equipment in a manufacturing environment, including robotics, pneumatic systems, servos, and PLCs.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation of automation equipment or processes.
- Assist in the procurement and installation of equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with production and engineering to communicate recommendations and design changes as applicable.
- Design fixtures and tooling; evaluate processes for increased throughput and troubleshoot issues on products and processes.
- Determine problem resolutions and implement improvements; evaluate manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement cost-saving measures and quality control systems.
- Ensure manufacturing processes and equipment meet capability and capacity requirements.
- Research and develop new processes, new equipment, and new product introductions (NPI).
- Ensure manufacturing processes and equipment comply with safety standards; participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure collaboration.
Education And Experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on practical experience supporting and designing automated systems
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on practical experience in a production and/or assembly environment
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in programming and software development; automation roles require substantial computer use
- Equipment troubleshooting skills; ability to debug or troubleshoot existing systems
- Communication skills to explain complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels; strong written documentation skills
- Problem-solving and creative thinking; ability to troubleshoot and implement effective solutions
- Flexibility and adaptability to keep up with new techniques and technologies
- Knowledge and experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma
- Desirable knowledge of Project Management, Risk Assessment, and Design of Experiments
