What you’ll do at IP Corporation

The manufacturing engineer is responsible for documenting and improving Molding Products’ manufacturing processes. Process documentation includes tracking yield, downtime, productivity, work instructions, best practices and corrective actions. They will also be tasked with proposing and implementing process improvements, including capital projects, to achieve manufacturing targets. Work closely with the Plant Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, Quality Manager & Maintenance Supervisor on assigned projects. Primary objectives are measurable process improvement in the areas of Critical To Quality (CtQ), Critical to Safety (CtS), Critical to Process (CTP), Equipment Utilization/Productivity, Product Consistency and Cycle time reduction through procedures and technology.

  • Track key performance indicators related to manufacturing excellence including quality, process, and safety.
  • Autonomously identify significant quality cost improvement opportunities, organize corresponding projects and teams, lead teams, and execute the solution to reduce process variability.
  • Set strategic direction in coordination with the plant engineering manager.
  • Evaluate processes for cost, quality, and capability; implement process equipment standardization, sequence, and training improvements to meet operational goals.
  • Make procedural changes and equipment modifications using management of change in a process safety management environment.
  • Strong data analysis and computer skills. Familiarity with industrial process control and the ability to update and maintain AutoCAD electrical, process and plant drawings.
  • Develop and complete Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) as required.
  • Initiate and implement design and engineering changes to enable the plant to operate more efficiently.
  • Develop, document, and implement training programs/materials, SOPs, etc., to build sufficient skill sets in manufacturing to produce quality products at expected rates.
  • Assist HSEQ Manager in developing and maintaining plant safety, EPA, OSHA and ISO standard programs. Resolve safety/fire protection/housekeeping issues and coordinate with regulatory visits.
  • Hands-on involvement in corrective actions including developing engineering solutions, procedural changes (under ISO) and follow-up to ensure effectiveness of the change.

What we are looking for

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • BS Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years’ work experience in a similar position.
  • Experience with statistical process control and other quality improvement tools e.g. Lean Six Sigma, 6S, DMAIC, 8D problem solving.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate processes to implement improvements.
  • Strong understanding of batch chemical process equipment and technology.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word and Teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of mixing and materials handling equipment.
