Overview
Engineer Manufacturing / Principal Engineer Manufacturing – Buffalo, NY. Amherst Systems Operating Unit (OU) focuses on the development and production of state-of-the-art Simulation Systems solutions. This role may be filled as an Engineer Manufacturing or Principal Engineer Manufacturing depending on qualifications. Clearance: Secret. Travel: 10% of the time. Relocation: No relocation assistance.
What You'll Do
- Develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing processes with a focus on production capabilities, quality, and schedules.
- Monitor process yields and cost.
- Develop and optimize automated equipment process parameters.
- Create and manage project plans (tasks, resources, and schedules).
- Develop and revise process documentation and work instructions.
- Solve manufacturing problems related to materials, designs, equipment, tooling, training, and instructions.
- Disposition non-conforming materials and specify rework and repair processes.
- Create and document designs for custom tooling and fixtures.
- Specify, justify, and procure new manufacturing equipment; manage equipment startup and production readiness.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance, service schedules, and spare parts.
- Participate in design manufacturability reviews for new products.
Ideal candidate will communicate effectively in writing and verbally and have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Basic Qualifications
Engineer Manufacturing
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or STEM field with 2 years related experience; or Master’s Degree in Engineering or STEM field with 0 years of experience.
- Experience with mechanical and/or electronic manufacturing/production processes.
- Experience interpreting 2D drawings and 3D models.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Principal Engineer Manufacturing
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or STEM field with 5 years related experience; or Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience.
- Experience with mechanical and/or electronic manufacturing/production processes.
- Experience interpreting 2D drawings and 3D models.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronics manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Experience programming automated microelectronics and circuit card manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with equipment, materials, and processes for manufacturing precision wound coils and encapsulation.
- Familiarity with industry standards (IPC-610, J-STD, 7711/7721, MIL and ANSI).
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; data analysis skills.
- Experience with SolidWorks, NX, and AutoCAD.
- Experience with SAP and Teamcenter in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Active Secret Clearance.
Compensation and Benefits
Primary salary range: $73,900.00 – $110,900.00. Secondary range: $91,200.00 – $136,800.00. Offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply where eligible. Northrop Grumman provides health, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, holidays, and PTO.
