The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is hiring: Custodian in Williston

Overview

Responsible for performing cleaning and grounds-keeping duties for the Corps Worship & Community Center. The individual may periodically work at other Salvation Army facilities, including the Salvation Army Family Store.

Salary: $14.23 - $14.49 /hour, 18 hours/week

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating and behaving in a professional manner with co-workers and Corps Officers, including conflict resolution, courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients, respect for property and person, and professional communication.
• Support the mission of The Salvation Army by treating every client and colleague with respect and dignity, without discrimination.
• Keep maintenance and janitorial supplies in good order; keep equipment clean and in operating condition; replace or repair broken or lost material.
• Inform the office in writing when supplies are low so more can be ordered; ensure mops and brooms are stored properly.
• Keep equipment and supplies in designated areas; ensure mechanical equipment is in proper working order and report problems to the Corps Officer (CO).
• Prepare cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as needed for various tasks; clean and wax floors using appropriate equipment; wash blinds, windows and walls with prescribed solutions.
• Regularly clean restrooms, stocking supplies (paper towels, toilet paper) and refilling soap dispensers.
• Maintain equipment and report needs for painting or minor building/equipment repairs to the Corps Officer; report safety hazards to supervisor.
• Perform grounds maintenance: cut grass, pull weeds, trim shrubs, water plants, and related duties; conduct weekly building walk-throughs to pick up trash; sweep and wash entrances.
• Performs custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions; assist with varied custodial duties for building and grounds upkeep.
• Other duties as assigned, including seasonal tasks such as snow/ice removal and clearing entrances and sidewalks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with two years custodial experience.
• Experience with basic cleaning products and knowledge of safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and follow instructions.
• Commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission and to supporting The Williston Corps strategic operations plan.
• Must pass The Salvation Army’s background check and understand Safe From Harm provisions; Safe From Harm training must be completed within the first 30 days of employment.
• Ability to regularly lift and move 50 pounds.
