Overview

Substitute Custodian role at St. Cloud Area School District 742. Type of position: hourly, as needed. B-shift hours may vary based on program needs. Reports to: Director of Building and Grounds, Building Engineers, Building Principals. Supervisory responsibilities: None. Salary: $16.25/hr.

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Similar job related experience
  • Bi-lingual (if applicable to the role; based on district needs)

Responsibilities

  • Direct service: perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing floors); clean and sanitize bathrooms; wash chairs, desks and chalkboards; empty trash cans; clean and sanitize locker rooms.
  • Work with teachers and other staff in moving furniture and delivering supplies.
  • Maintain grounds by cutting and trimming the lawn, shoveling and blowing snow from walkways; clean and maintain cafeteria and equipment.
  • Maintain building security.
  • Cleaning up body fluids and secretions in all areas of the school (as required).
  • Customer support: assist building administrators and staff in setting up for special events and other tasks assigned by building administrator/lead engineer.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support personnel to support the school district's mission.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, support staff, colleagues and parents; demonstrate respect for the dignity of all.
  • Work cooperatively with students, teachers, support staff, colleagues and parents.

Administrative & Other Duties

  • Record keeping as assigned; monitor supplies and notify lead custodian when supplies are needed.
  • Coordinate with community education and other groups.
  • Adhere to federal, state and District data privacy regarding employee information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Environment & Physical Demands

  • Continuous standing and walking; frequent stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, sitting, hearing, speaking, and seeing.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving of equipment, supplies and furniture; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling; work with various chemicals and follow safety data sheet guidelines; use personal protective equipment when dealing with body fluids.
  • Work outdoors during inclement weather.
