Summary: Keeps premises of school buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies. Dusts furniture and equipment.
• Polishes metalwork. Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, and sills. Empties wastebaskets, and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies. Replaces light bulbs.
• Sets up tables and chairs in auditorium or hall. Notifies supervisor of any repair needs.

• Maintains confidentiality of parent, student, and staff members.
• Maintains courteous relationships with parents, students and staff members.
• Displays ability to work independently.
• Follows policies and procedures and exhibits sound and accurate judgment.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Additional Duties

• Performs general cleaning, and repair work, particularly during school vacations.
• Assists parents and other visitors to school buildings with special events and programs.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
