Summary
Works an assigned schedule at a school site performing custodial duties and limited maintenance work.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Priority is providing clean learning spaces for our teachers and students.
- Performs a variety of custodial tasks such as general cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, floor scrubbing, floor stripping, floor finishing and carpet cleaning.
- Sets up and takes down furniture and equipment for daily lunches and other events including meetings and any other functions.
- Performs semi-skilled maintenance work to building fixtures and furniture as needed.
- Performs semi-skilled preventative maintenance work to facility cleaning equipment when required.
- Pulls trash can liners with trash from roll around cans and lifts them into the dumpster.
- Shovels snow, scrapes ice, spreads salt and picks up trash from facility property as needed.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 70 pounds, such as cleaning supplies, cleaning equipment, loading and unloading trucks.
- All aspects of hard and soft surface cleaning, window cleaning, VCT, LVT, wood, rubber, tartan and linoleum floor work, and the use of all types of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment for all tasks.
- Various hand cleaning equipment such as brooms, dust pans, wet mops, dry mops, dusters, pails and buckets
- Various light equipment such as all types of ladders, furniture dollies, supply dollies, mop buckets and wringers
- Various heavy equipment such as wet/dry vacuums, vacuum cleaners, walk behind, riding, swing and burnishing floor machines and a carpet extractor machine. High lift equipment.
- Knowledge of the use of hand and some power tools
- Grounds keeping work, interior and exterior painting work and power washing.
- Building safety practices and procedures
- The ability to travel between buildings. 5 buildings in total within a small geographic area. This position will be assigned a building and zone but is subject to change based on the department needs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be flexible to be able to travel between all facilities as required or needed.
- Must be required to contact the facility principal or any maintenance staff member with any issues that need immediate attention or any type of emergency. Maintains all the equipment that are used for your position daily.
- Experience not required, but preferred
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, and safety issues
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Have a high standard, staying organized, and being a team-player
Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to document solutions and resolutions into ticket / knowledgebase system.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job where reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds such as salt bags, cleaning supplies, cleaning equipment, and unloading and loading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lb. such as cleaning equipment and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, cleaning equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus must have the ability to work at various height levels.
Safety Requirements
Follows all school district applicable safety rules, procedures, practices and regulations governing the proper use of all hand and power tools and equipment used in the performance of duties assigned. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment wear such as safety glasses, gloves, masks and all other body protection equipment required for performing the required work of this job description. Must comply with the school districts chemical hygiene program and follow all SDS and OSHA standards. Safety equipment will be provided.
Benefits
Salary: Starting at $15.00 depending on experience
