Job Responsibilities

1. Directly supervises laborers and cleaners assigned to the Center.
2. Secure building.
3. Performs minor repairs, painting and maintenance tasks under the direction of the Head Custodian.
4. Performs or arranges for the distribution of deliveries.
5. Performs assigned cleaning tasks in and around buildings.
6. Systematically observes buildings and grounds for abnormal conditions and reports to the Head Custodian.
7. Maybe expected to drive a BOCES-owned vehicle.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian.

Minimum Civil Service Qualifications

1. Must meet minimum civil service qualifications for provisional appointment as follows:

1. Graduation from High School or Vocational School or possession of a High School Equivalency diploma and one (1) year of experience in commercial cleaning practice or general building maintenance including experience in any one of the following trades: Carpentry, Electrical, HV and AC Systems, Plumbing; OR
2. Five (5) years of experience in commercial cleaning practices or general building maintenance, including experience in any one of the following trades: Carpentry, Electrical, HV and AC Systems, Plumbing; OR
3. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A and B.

• The ideal candidate would have taken the Custodian #42350010 exam on July 12, 2025
