This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers and fabricators, you will tackle welding/ joining engineering problems for various spaceflight and support systems. You will specify, develop, and qualify joining processes (including LBW, GMAW, GTAW, PAW, etc.) on various Blue Origin projects, focusing on large structure fabrication. You will work closely with design, analysis, manufacturing, and quality groups to continue optimizing materials and processes while providing on-going support to existing configurations on the production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-going support to existing configurations on the production floor

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or higher in welding engineering, materials engineering, or related field with 3+ years’ experience or CWI with 5+ years’ experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with at least 3 of the following processes: GTAW, FCAW, SMAW, LBW, GMAW, PAW
  • Extensive knowledge of welding processes across a variety of materials requiring testing at both cryogenic and elevated temperature ranges
  • Ability to learn, grow and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed
  • Experience qualifying to and working in accordance with codes and standards (AWS D17.1, ASME BPVC Section IX, B31.3, AWS D1.1, 1.2, D1.6, etc.)

Desired

  • Experience in large assembly / tooling fabrication
  • Experience with manufacturing drawing review including robust understanding of welding symbols
  • Ability and willingness to train cross-functional engineering teams on welding requirements and weldment design
  • Experience working with carbon and stainless steels, aluminum alloys, Ni-based Alloys, and/or other aerospace materials
