Overview
Role focused on welding and fabrication for aircraft engine hardware, involving diverse processes and materials, set-up, inspection, and continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform various weld processes (GTAW, Resistance) in multiple positions, automated welding, fabrication, and related operations on metals such as stainless, Inconel, cobalt, and varying sizes/thicknesses to produce aircraft engine hardware.
- Set up and maintain equipment, tools, and fixtures to produce parts to aircraft quality specifications according to drawings, layouts, blueprints, and written instructions.
- Perform intermediate mathematical calculations; use precision gauges/inspection measuring equipment, borescopes, fixturing, and interpret weld/fabrication/mechanical blueprints, sketches, layouts, and engineering specifications to determine required weld and fabrication setups and operations.
- Set up and maintain equipment and tools necessary for production.
- Contribute to environmental, health, safety, maintenance, quality, continuous improvement, and production-flow initiatives to support plant machinery and manufacturing-related programs.
- Maintain detailed job task documentation, reports, and records.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years of experience in precision weld-fabrication disciplines; or
- Associate degree or Technical Certificate in weld-fabrication related field from an accredited institution.
Desirable Qualifications
- Proficiency in setup and operation of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) tools and equipment
- Proficiency in setup and operation of Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), brazing, soldering, and automated welding tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/weld/fabrication blueprints and specifications
- Experience with precision gauges and measuring tools (micrometers, dial calipers, height gauges, fixturing, etc.)
- Experience in fabrication-related disciplines
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma fundamentals
- Ability to collaborate with team members and resolve conflicts to achieve objectives and deliverables
- Ability to follow work rules, safety practices, procedures, and meet deadlines with punctuality
