The Sports Coordinator role at YMCA of Natrona County supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Sports Coordinator impacts the lives of youth and families through implementing the rules, direct care, organization, supervision, and well-being of participants in the sports activity.
The Sports Coordinator assists the Sports Director as well as Sports Officials and ensures quality programming and a positive experience for participants, officials, and spectators.
Essential Functions
- Creates a positive environment for all participants, ensuring growth and development.
- Builds relationships among participants and spectators to pro-actively gain and retain members.
- Exemplifies appropriate behavior at all times. Acts as a role model for participants, officials, and spectators.
- Officiates games as needed.
- Assists in the training and supervision of sports officials.
- Understands and implements rules of assigned sport, focusing on participant experience and safety at all times.
- Assists Sports Director in scheduling, safety, and use of facilities (on and off-site) for program activities and events. Ensures site is safe by pro-actively managing risk and responding to first aid or other issues in a timely manner, reporting any issues per program processes.
- Resolves administrative problems and inquiries.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children, and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Actively participates in branch and department staff meetings and/or trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Minimum 1 year experience in assigned program area
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail required
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Demonstrated maturity, sound judgement, and possession of strong sense of responsibility
- Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
- Complete within 90 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid (provided by YMCA)
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
