Assist in the coordination, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of recreational activities in specialty program areas such as special events, active adult programs, special interest classes, youth and adult sports, facility rentals, youth and teen programs, and aquatics. Assist with managing the pool, including supervision of the facility and patrons (seasonally). Assist with data input and management related to facility rentals at the community center, ramada reservations, and field allocations for various user groups in the community. Oversee part-time and seasonal staff and monitor recreation facilities.

The ideal candidate for the Recreation Programmer - Youth and Adult Sports position will be a strategic, motivated, high-performing individual. The successful candidate will also possess at least 2 years of experience in the recreation field and assist in coordinating a variety of programs, such as youth and adult sports. Proficiency in recreation software utilization is also desired, along with excellent overall leadership, communication, and customer service skills.   • Researches new programs, creates flyers, contacts vendors, and orders and picks up supplies.
  • Assists in recruiting, overseeing, and training the part-time and seasonal recreation staff; directs various staff members by conducting meetings, assigns and monitors work; and assists staff with duties when necessary.
  • Assists in managing aquatic and recreation programs; performs administrative duties, facilitates and attends meetings as required, and facilitates meetings.
  • Supervises the purchase, distribution, care, use, and maintenance of supplies and equipment for assigned programs.
  • Assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a variety of recreation activities and specialized events. Attends meetings as assigned.
  • Ensures safety of participants and facility users and ensures program and/or facility compliance with city, county, state, and national laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Provides excellent customer service through daily interactions with the public related to program areas of oversight.
  • Maintains effective relationships with associates, participants, community groups, administration, and the general public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Formal Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in a related field.
  • Certifications and Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License, CPR, and First-Aid certifications within 6 months.
  • Reading: Work requires the ability to read staff reports, memorandums, letters, and general correspondence.
  • Math: Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Writing: Work requires the ability to write reports, letters, registration forms, and flyers, and accident and incident forms.
  • Managerial: Semi-Complex - Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
  • Policy/Decision Making: Significant - The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results.
  • Technical Skills: Broad Application - Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
  • Interpersonal/Human Relations Skills: Moderate - Interactions may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations.
