PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (ZIP 43210) – Ohio healthcare jobs
- Unit: PCU – Neuro Surgery Unit (8 BSH Neuro Surgery)
- Position Type: Locum tenens / Travel Registered Nurse contract
- Start Date: September 22, 2025
- End Date: December 22, 2025
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shifts: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940-$1990
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Floating: Required to float to other hospital units as needed
- Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Rotating weeknights, weekends, and holidays
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Ohio state or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Med-Surg nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record (EHR) system
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after contract signing
- Two professional references required (including one from a nurse manager, director, or formal leadership)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions accepted)
- Deliver high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a fast-paced PCU neuro surgery setting
- Manage patient assignments with ratios of 1:3-4 to ensure safe and effective nursing care
- Float to various hospital units as needed to provide clinical support
- Utilize EPIC for accurate and timely nursing documentation
- Perform specialized neuro procedures, including lumbar drains and EVD monitoring
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, Physical Therapy, Respiratory, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more
- Care for patients with neurological diagnoses such as epilepsy, Guillain-Barre, multiple sclerosis (MS), myasthenia gravis, stroke, and traumatic brain injury
- Maintain compliance with all credentialing and regulatory deadlines
