Oncology RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Weston, WV 26452
• Setting: Inpatient Oncology Unit
• Start Date: October 20, 2025
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (option to extend)
• Shift: 5x8-hour day shifts (07:00 - 15:00), Monday–Friday
• Hours per Week: 40
• EMR: Cerner
• Scrubs: Not provided (purple required)

Oncology RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or Compact State (pending license considered)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience; inpatient oncology nursing experience preferred
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification required
• Chemo certified and proficient in IV starts
• At least 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years
• Must live at least 100 miles from facility (75–100 miles considered case-by-case)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Travel nursing experience not required

Oncology Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Start and maintain IVs, access/manage ports, and provide central line care
• Monitor for and respond to complications such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and sepsis
• Administer blood products, chemotherapy, and supportive medications
• Educate and support oncology patients and their families throughout the treatment process
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (pharmacy, respiratory, rapid response)
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
• Follow neutropenic precautions, manage cytotoxic spills, and adhere to all safety protocols
