  • Facility: Community hospital, R&B ICU, 12-bed unit
  • Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nurse contract
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: September 29, 2025
  • End Date: December 29, 2025
  • Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1830 - $1880
  • Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
  • Average Daily Census: 8
  • Float Requirement: May float to Med/Surg, Telemetry, Medical, Surgical, or Intermediate Care units
  • Scrubs: Provided

ICU RN Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (required at time of application)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
  • Current ACLS and BCLS certifications
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting system
  • Strong clinical skills in ventilator management, titration of pressors and sedation, balloon pumps, CRRT, and acute stroke management
  • Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
  • Professional references preferred at time of submission
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of Alton, IL

ICU RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult and geriatric patients in the ICU
  • Manage ventilators, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administer emergency medications
  • Assist with and perform procedures including central line placement, bronchoscopies, PEG tube placement, CPAP/BiPAP management, post-arrest cooling protocol, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and CRRT
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias, manage multi-system organ failure, and respond to acute stroke and cardiac emergencies
  • Float to Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care units as required
  • Accurately document patient care in Cerner EHR
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Participate in holiday and weekend shift coverage as needed
