Role Purpose: Mark Anthony Brewing Inc. is hiring a Brewing Supervisor who is responsible for the operation and active performance management of the Brewing Operators and Lead Brewer. This role works closely with the Sr. Manager, Brewing, Lead Brewer and the Brewing Operators to meet production targets while adhering to safety and quality control standards. This position is a front-line leader in the brewing area.

Responsibilities

  • Safety / Food Safety: Ensure the team follows safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Investigate and address safety incidents, near-misses, and hazards promptly.
  • Quality Control: Oversee quality control measures to maintain product quality and consistency and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Brewing Operations: Supervise and coordinate brewing processes, ensure tasks are completed according to production schedules and quality standards. Ensure continuous operation of equipment, monitor and troubleshoot assigned shift areas.
  • Productivity and Efficiency: Use understanding of fermentation science to monitor fermenter efficiency and movement. Identify opportunities to improve brewing efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production processes. Implement continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving measures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance and cleaning of brewing equipment. Report malfunctions or maintenance needs and collaborate with Maintenance to drive repairs and PMs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records related to production, quality control, and safety. Use documentation to track performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of ingredients and supplies. Coordinate with inventory control to ensure adequate supply.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate the team, provide guidance, training, and support. Schedule and assign tasks, promote cross-training, maximize resources, and enhance team competency.
  • Escalation Procedures: Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level management as they relate to safety, quality, performance goals, productivity, and teamwork.
  • Shift Scheduling: Assist in shift scheduling and ensure proper staffing to meet production demands. Communicate scheduling changes to team members.
  • Supervision: Provide clear direction, ensure proper training and equipment, identify training needs and facilitate development.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication within the packaging team, provide guidance, and share shift performance through end-of-shift reports and handovers.
  • Process Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and involve team members in problem-solving and optimization efforts.
  • Performance Feedback: Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, recognize achievements, and address underperformance with coaching or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Accountability Discussions: Hold one-on-one discussions to review performance, set goals, and plan development.
  • Time Management: Manage team time and attendance, including schedules, timecards, and adherence to attendance policies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Associate degree and/or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Brewing certifications – preferred.
  • Previous brewing or high-speed food/beverage manufacturing experience.
  • Proficiency with computer software such as MS Office, Teams, and email; Excel – intermediate.
  • Proven ability to implement and maintain a management system.
  • Lean Six Sigma or similar program experience – preferred.

Working conditions

  • Fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Subject to extreme temperatures.
  • Shift work including days, evenings, overnight, and up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; stand/move 8–12 hours per day; ascend/descend stairs or ladders.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required (bump cap, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, masks or PAPRs).
  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
