Following supervisor instructions to prepare wind tower sections for fabrication operations, set up, and operate the sub-arc welder.
Welding, grinding, and repairing wind tower sections before presenting them to Quality Inspectors; repairing all seaming defects as directed.
Working primarily independently, with essential tools and welding equipment provided; employee is responsible for maintaining and being accountable for tools and equipment.
Ensuring timely and efficient work to deliver a quality product without manufacturing defects.
Actively participating in department safety and demonstrating excellent safety practices and behaviors in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean & organized work area; utilize safe work habits.
Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

Facility/Group Specific Responsibilities

To carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and departmental works instructions.
To contribute to general improvements in the quality of key activities within the department.
Comply with all NOV and HSE procedures and policies.

Education & Experience Qualifications

Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment and/or at least 1 year of fabrication experience (preferred).
Understanding of spiral mill operations and forming processes is preferred.
Solid grasp of welding procedures and practices, including the ability to perform basic math and work with U.S. and metric measurements.
Successful completion of an AWS welder qualification test and the ability to use sub-arc welding equipment without difficulty.
Graduation certificate from an accredited trade school (preferred).
American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification (preferred).

Job Requirements

Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Knowledge of welding properties for a variety of metals and alloys.
Ability to identify and communicate production or maintenance problems to departmental supervision.
Motivated and safety-conscious, with a strong sense of integrity and dedication to achieving high-performance standards in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to stand, walk, bend/stoop, push/pull and repetitive movement up to 12 hours daily.
Able to work well in a team environment as well as self-directed when working independently.
Willingness to comply with all safety policies, PPE requirements, and operating procedures.
Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
Ability to multitask in fast paced environment.
Factory environment with large range in temperature changes.
