Warehouse Forklift Operator - Night Shift

Schedule: 2:2:3 rotating shifts – 6pm-6am

Compensation: $17.25 per hour

Description

Essential Functions

  • Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis.
  • Operates a lift truck for an entire shift.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refers defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transports materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices (forklifts, lift beams, swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms) to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secures material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Ensures reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.

Unloader

  • Unloads products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
  • Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
  • Inspects condition of all received product.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.

Preloader

  • Receives and reads preload orders.
  • Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging that product on a spot utilizing stacking guidelines.
  • Inspects and loads trucks and arranges the products with the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Uses scanning device and computer as needed to perform tasks.
  • Checks printout for shortages, over-counts and incorrect model numbers; corrects shortages, over-counts and incorrect models where possible.

Truck Loader

  • Inspects trailers before loading products.
  • Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
  • Moves products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the trailer.
  • Arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Properly secures the load for travel.

Skills & Abilities

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: One to two years related experience.
  • Computer Skills: Basic scanner technology.
  • Certificates & Licenses: Valid State Driver’s License; Forklift Certification preferred.
