Overview

This role involves performing housekeeping and laundry duties in resident living areas, following schedules and infection control practices, and maintaining clean, safe, and respectful environments for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
• Coordinate daily housekeeping duties with nursing services when performing routine cleaning in resident living areas.
• Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
• Maintain established infection control and universal practices when performing housekeeping duties.
• Keep work areas free of hazardous objects.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
• Inform the supervisor of supply needs.
• Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary or directed.
• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily assignments.
• Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc. in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc., daily as instructed.
• Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures.
• Clean floors (sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting).
• Clean carpets (vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, disinfecting).
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.
• Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
• Clean hallways.
• Discard waste into proper containers and relines trash receptacles with liners.
• Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
• Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers.
• Maintain the confidentiality of resident information.
• Honor the residents' personal and property rights.
• Turn in all found articles to the charge nurse.
