Housekeeping Manager 2 — Department: Student Life | Environmental Services South District

Overview

The Housekeeping Manager 2 provides leadership and direction for custodial services to maintain a prescribed level of cleanliness to assigned buildings or area(s). Establishes work priorities and supervises workforce in providing housekeeping services in conjunction with supervisor as well as other managers within the Facility Operations Department; works with customers within assigned areas to determine service needs; leads and coaches work team including assisting in development and training of staff and providing on-going coaching and feedback to staff regarding performance; responsible for overall performance management of staff; participates in corrective action process; participates in hiring process for staff and department; maintains proper inventory levels for assigned area(s) and custodial equipment; carries out projects as needed and required; maintains timekeeping records; maintains duties and tasks lists, completes inspections as needed and required to ensure departmental standards are maintained; solves problems; promotes safety and security, and communicates with various points of contacts across the department and Student Life; this position primarily is responsible for residence halls in the South District but may be assigned other areas within the department especially during break times; may serve as working manager to assist staff in completion of assigned duties; typical schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; this position is subject to on-call and weekend shift rotations; the Housekeeping Manager 2 must successfully complete and pass the CMI Basic Module training and exam during their probationary period.

Minimum Education

Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3 years of relevant experience in a commercial, institutional or educational environment; knowledge of employee training, supervision, safety practices; skill in operation of cleaning equipment; ability to use whole numbers, establish friendly atmosphere as supervisor of work unit.
  • Desired: 4-8 years of housekeeping/custodial experience in a commercial, institutional or educational environment; Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) Certification; Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Compensation

The targeted pay range for this position is $22.93 - $29.95 based on experience. This position is eligible for evening and weekend shift premiums as applicable.
