Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train and inspect the performance of assigned Room Attendants, Turndown Attendants, Housepersons, Lobby Attendants, and Linen Runners, ensuring all procedures meet the hotel's standards. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures and standards; ensure compliance at all times.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment maintenance and use; operate equipment as intended.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, acknowledge guests, and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Know hotel services, hours of operation, room layouts, bed types, décor, amenities, locations and related housekeeping details.
  • Verify room status on reports; report discrepancies, prioritize and update status of rooms as needed.
  • Ensure staff report to work; document lateness or absences; coordinate breaks for staff.
  • Prioritize and adjust assignments to staff and the room-cleaning list; maintain radios and security of keys.
  • Communicate changes to assignment sheets during shifts; inspect floor closets and rectify deficiencies in supplies.
  • Check Room Attendants’ carts for supplies, neatness, cleanliness and any mechanical issues.
  • Inspect rooms cleaned by Room Attendants using a checklist; communicate deficiencies for correction.
  • Update room status after confirming cleanliness and condition; manage vacant and discrepant rooms as needed; verify DND rooms.
  • Counsel Room Attendants on discrepancies; complete work orders for maintenance and coordinate urgent repairs with Engineering.
  • Train staff as assigned; provide feedback on performance and participate in disciplinary processes when needed.
  • Document pertinent information in the department log book; complete closing duties and review status with the manager or incoming supervisor.
  • Assist in other housekeeping areas as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate, some college preferred.
  • 3 years of experience as a Room Attendant.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment use and chemical handling.
  • Some English required; fluency in English is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical calculation skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
  • Previous guest relations training.
