Dartmouth College is hiring: Custodian - 3rd shift in Hanover

Job Description

Dartmouth College is seeking a Custodian to work on the 3rd shift. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks, including cleaning and unskilled building maintenance, event set ups, and animal and insect control.

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in custodial work, demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, and ability to operate and maintain heavy industrial cleaning equipment.

The schedule for this position is 10:00pm-6:30am, with two consecutive days off, and includes shift differential. The position is onsite only and is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities:

• Unlocks and locks assigned spaces; cleans, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs all hard surface floors.
• Cleans public restrooms and showers; scours, disinfects, and deodorizes toilet bowls and sinks.
• Empties office and common area trash cans; implements FO&M recycling procedures.
• Performs major set up and break down for College events.
• Cleans light fixtures and replaces light bulbs, using a step ladder as necessary.
• Sprays inside and outside of buildings with various chemicals to control insects.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of experience in custodial work.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
• Ability to operate and maintain heavy industrial cleaning equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor, including lifting and carrying light to medium weight objects.
