Overview

Network Engineer - 3rd Shift at TEKsystems. Engineers can sit anywhere in the US, but will need to provide support during 3rd shift (EST).

3rd Shift: Midnight - 8:00am EST

Responsibilities

• The successful Technical Services Engineer will effectively assess the customer’s situation and help develop an action plan that will result in a resolution. This is an operations role, not a design/architecture role. This role involves heavy interaction with customers and troubleshooting the issues via phone, chat, and email. This is not a help desk role; the engineer will perform higher level troubleshooting that requires subject-matter expertise across multi-vendor, integrated solutions.
• 50% of the day (approximately 4 hours) will be spent taking customer calls for support in the network monitoring space. These cases are operational and reactive; the engineer will work them to resolution according to priority.
• 50% of the day (approximately 4 hours) will be spent working backlogs (cases that have accumulated) and/or working in the virtual lab to reverse-engineer issues and derive troubleshooting steps for resolution.

Top Skills

• Tier 3 troubleshooting experience of Layer 3 Routing Protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, HRSP, IGP, IRS, ISIS, Spanning Tree, and some BGP.
• Tier 3 troubleshooting experience of Layer 2 and 3 switches: Catalyst, 6500s, 6900s, 7600s, 3850s, 2911s, 3945s.
• Enterprise level routing and switching (R/S) experience troubleshooting large, complex networks.
• CCNP

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Catalyst Center (formerly DNAC) or Cisco SD-WAN

Qualifications & Requirements

• Self-starter who does not require hand-holding. Strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication, collaboration, and the ability to work independently.
• Very outgoing and team-oriented.
• Mid-Senior level experience expected; Intermediate level pay range noted.

Pay and Benefits
