Overview
Role focuses on welding of ferrous and nonferrous materials, with emphasis on the aesthetic appearance and compliance with welding procedures and codes. Work includes setup, tack welding, welding, inspection, rework, and collaboration with team members on large components.
Responsibilities
- Set up, tack and weld ferrous and nonferrous materials.
- Understand and utilize applicable welding procedure specifications.
- Perform all welding duties in compliance with applicable welding codes; emphasize weld appearance and criticality of application.
- Understand and apply the applicable weld inspection criteria.
- Cut, grind, fit, and bend parts to fit weldments as required.
- Clean and deburr welds to satisfy customers and applicable weld codes.
- Work with team members to assemble and weld large components.
- Perform testing and inspection of welds to meet quality requirements.
- Perform weld rework and repairs per accepted procedures.
- Salvage and rebuild parts as directed.
Qualifications
- Requires the use of complicated drawings, welding symbols, shop mathematics, weld shop tools, protractors, scales, squares, calipers, etc.
- Equivalent to four years of high school plus technical training in welding.
- Must pass any required tests associated with applicable standards (AWS, ISO, MIL STD, International, ASNT).
- GMAW Certification or 3–5 years of equivalent experience.
Standout Qualifications
- Previous experience welding large, heavy industrial equipment.
- Experience welding with stainless steel filler metal and associated equipment.
Pay and Schedule
Hiring rate of pay is $26.13 per hour; once certified, hourly rate of pay is $31.76, with the capability of up to $32.91 per hour. 3rd shift premium: $0.70 per hour.
