Material handlers select and retrieve raw material, stack finished material on pallets, and label packaging appropriately. Move finished goods pallets to the warehouse or specified location and apply pallet wrapping as instructed. (This is a guide; duties may vary depending on management.)

Essential Position Functions

  1. Verify, request, pull, and receive raw materials as specified.
  2. Prepare tape machine and labeling equipment for each job.
  3. Lift, stack, and arrange finished goods onto pallets as specified.
  4. Prepare finished pallets for wrapping (corner boards, labels, top cap).
  5. Verify and apply correct labels on cartons, boxes, and pallets as required.
  6. Ensure quality of stacking and labeling per procedures.
  7. Maintain trays, rollers, and bottles used for labeling.
  8. Complete forms, tickets, and tags for recording goods.
  9. Tag pallets as required.
  10. Move finished pallets to the warehouse for wrapping.
  11. Seal cartons manually as needed.
  12. Operate manual and electric pallet jacks.
  13. Report unsafe conditions and hazards.
  14. Follow all safety practices and rules.
  15. Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Material handling experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of envelope experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Ability to read and understand job jackets.
  • Prioritize and complete tasks accurately and timely.
  • Handle multiple priorities with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone and in a team.
  • May require forklift certification.
  • Must pass drug, background, and physical tests.

  • Walk and stand for long periods.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 35 lbs regularly.
  • Push/pull/leverage up to 75 lbs.
  • Operate pallet jacks with loads up to 1,500 lbs.

Mental Demands

  • Use written and oral communication skills.
  • Interact with managers and staff.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Work Environment

  • Primarily in a fast-paced manufacturing/warehouse setting.
  • Excessive noise; hearing protection provided.
