Overview
The Production Worker is under the direction of the shift supervisor and will primarily be responsible for assembly of plastics drums manufactured using established production procedures, following safety protocol and adhering to the company’s quality standards. Support plant production needs for daily operation, changeovers, and outbound shipments. Secondary responsibility is assisting in packaging of product for internal and external use and assisting in changeovers with other production teammates.
Responsibilities
- Operate all manufacturing equipment efficiently and safely
- Safely operate the machine to properly produce product and follow procedures for packaging to external customers
- Move materials and/or finished products to facilitate proper flow
- Demonstrates ability to meet production standards on specific assignments within required time
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Ensure safety and quality throughout production
- Clean equipment and work area before, during, and after shift
- Maintains clean work area through good housekeeping practices
- Follow proper sorting and restacking instructions as given by quality department
- Assist in changeovers when called by supervisor or front-end operators
- Perform other duties as required by Supervisor or Manager
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
- Troubleshoot problems and report issues
- Must work well in a team environment
Physical Requirements
- Facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, excluding designated holidays or prearranged shutdowns
- Line production runs at a steady rate of approximately 35 to 39 drums per hour
- Ability to be on feet for 8 to 12 hours per scheduled shift
- Current schedule is Monday to Friday, weekly repeating, 10:50 PM to 7:00 AM
- 10:50 PM to 11:00 PM is the paid shift huddle before going to the production floor
- Walking and standing during shift with rotation between mold, tester, cutter, and grinder machines
- Repetitive turning and twisting during leak testing steps
- Reaching above shoulders and repetitive grasping to handle drums and lids
- Use of lid assembly closure bar and cutting knife to complete drum manufacturing process
- Shifts can be scheduled 5 consecutive days (Mon–Fri) or alternating 2-week rotations
- Use of hands and fingers to perform job functions
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and climb as needed
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs as needed, and up to 20 lbs for full shift to move drums
- Work environment is indoors but not temperature controlled; exposed to heat and cold depending on conditions
