What You’ll Do
The maintenance mechanic is responsible for planning, laying out, installing, repairing and maintaining through preventive maintenance practices, all electrical and mechanical components of plant machines and equipment.
The maintenance mechanic should stay current with new developments in their field, be able to work from complicated drawings, specifications or wiring diagrams, and have a practical knowledge of electronics. May require the direction of part-time helpers and operation of a power truck in performance of duties.
The incumbent will adhere to all facility safety guidelines and encourage communication and participation to identify and reduce/eliminate potential hazards. They will follow safe practices to avoid injury, including lock-out-tag out if necessary. The incumbent may be required to work on equipment that is at least six feet from floor level, using proper equipment and safety precautions for fall protection. All guarding or other safety devices should be replaced as required when work is completed. All work must be performed in accordance with National Electrical Code Requirements. They will adhere to and support all facility environmental guidelines and procedures to identify pollution prevention projects to reduce waste and raw material consumption. They will be responsible for organization and cleanliness of the work area and will support and abide by procedures to ensure product and process quality and plant manufacturing principles.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Must have completed a maintenance mechanic apprenticeship, including electrical training, or have equivalent education
- Must have a minimum of six months previous experience as a maintenance mechanic with electrical experience in a manufacturing or similar environment
- Must be able to drive a forklift truck
Position Criteria
- Individuals are placed in an apprenticeship-training program to become fully qualified as a maintenance mechanic. The criteria for entrance into the apprenticeship program are outlined in the apprenticeship program guide. Entrance requires a high school diploma/GED
