Under the general supervision of the Sanitation Manager, the primary responsibility of the Sanitation Technician I is to clean and sanitize all processing equipment, floors, walls, pipes, trash receptacles, drains, grounds, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to comply with all Quality and Foods Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management Systems with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption.
  • Disassemble, clean/sanitize, and reassemble equipment ensuring equipment care and integrity. Clean and sanitize equipment with the correct chemicals/cleaning agents and scrubbing materials.
  • Properly and safely mix chemicals per label instructions.
  • Frequently lift/move hoses, equipment, chemical containers throughout work shift.
  • Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements at all times.
  • Utilize company resources in a safe and effective manner.
  • Abide by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Work Rules, Safety Rules, and Attendance Rules.
  • Immediately report any accidents, malfunctions of processing equipment, or safety hazards.
  • Work around moving equipment with cleaning chemicals in the plant.
  • Read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Follow verbal and written directions and complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Assist others in their areas as assigned and perform other duties reasonably associated with the above functions.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Detail-oriented and safety conscious.
  • Must be able to use ladders and other required tools; work with chemicals per DOLE procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
  • Ability to work any shift, any day of the week, as assigned and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment/post-offer drug screen and background check.

Educational Requirements

  • High School or equivalent preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, walk, and sit for 8+ hours per shift; lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Bend/stoop/squat/twist/kneel and turn as needed; reach with hands and arms; work in a cold environment (around 40°F).
  • Work on concrete surfaces; climb stairs and ladders; hold a high-pressure hose (750-1000 psi) for long periods.
  • Work with chemicals and wear a respirator if needed (Respirator Fitness Test may be required).
  • Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
