Base pay range

$46,177.00/yr - $51,256.00/yr

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Managing Associate Teacher and Early Learning site based leadership team, assists in overseeing and directing the planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children, including full-time classroom teacher duties and developing individual educational plans for children.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe environment by upholding the NAEYC Code of Conduct in all interactions.
  • Utilize Active Supervision strategies to ensure child safety indoors and outdoors.
  • Support the implementation of the Center’s Schedule and Napping Policy.
  • Understand Head Start Performance Standards and Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
  • Assist in creating and facilitating lesson plans, activities, and managing classroom materials.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, adapting as needed for children’s needs.
  • Maintain developmental portfolios for each child, including screenings and observational data.
  • Conduct home visits and parent conferences to discuss development and progress.
  • Implement family-style meals and support children’s social and self-help skills.
  • Collaborate with family support staff and mental health teams to support children’s development.
  • Guide children’s social skills development across all domains.
  • Attend staff, board, and parent meetings as required.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy classroom environment and playground safety.
  • Assist with health and environment checklists and implementing Individual Education Plans.
  • Help recruit and orient volunteers.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a Level 4 ECE and IT credential, or a baccalaureate with the same credentials.
  • Knowledge of Head Start and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Proof of recent physical exam, TB test, and background checks.
  • Personal qualities: emotional maturity, cooperation, respect, flexibility, patience, hygiene, health.
  • Experience working with children and engaging with families.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong reasoning, problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and online portals for documentation.
  • Teamwork experience and positive organizational representation.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 55 pounds and perform classroom activities.
  • Experience working with diverse communities.

Working Conditions

  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases.
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, squat, and run as needed during work.
