Overview


Milliken & Company is a global manufacturing leader focused on materials science. This position is for a Warehouse Material Handler on the 3rd Shift in Salisbury, MA, reporting to the Warehouse Manager. The role supports machine operators by ensuring the smooth flow of material and work, maintaining quality and speed, minimizing scrap, and ensuring accuracy of manufacturing data and documentation.


Responsibilities



  • Material Handler 1 responsibilities: follow the assigned schedule, set up orders, operate order picker, electric pallet jack, manual jack, and reach truck safely, interpret raw material labels, stage boxes for production, adjust order forms, move material with scanners, complete required paperwork, perform cycle counts, wrap pallets, consolidate raw material inventory in SAP, adhere to green tag inspection processes, clean area and equipment, notify supervisor of issues, complete assigned tasks, ensure product quality, advise on safety issues, ensure policy compliance, and perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Material Handler 2 responsibilities: fulfill all Material Handler 1 qualifications, assist with put-away and transfer of material, execute fulfillment of export containers, back up put-away of finished goods, perform cycle counts.

  • Material Handler 3 responsibilities: back-up receiving and shipping coordination (including BOL printing for parcels and pallet orders), warehouse coordination (printing parcels and pallet orders), inventory control (Cogis SAP), back-up shipping and FedEx/UPS, participate in Lean activities (Kanban, 5S, pull manufacturing), and develop and execute projects for continuous improvement.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience

  • Prior manufacturing experience; regulated industries (e.g., healthcare or food & beverage) preferred

  • Clear verbal and written communication

  • Familiarity with basic computer skills

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math at an 8th grade level

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods

  • Ability to assess visual differences between products (color, size, pattern)

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish candidates preferred

  • Fork Truck experience

Personal Protective Equipment Used

  • Standing: approximately 95% of the day

  • Sitting: 5% of the day

  • Moving throughout the plant: 100% of the day

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs: 100% of the day

  • Climbing stairs and reaching up to 16 ft: 75% of the day

  • Pushing/pulling fabric rolls and heavy items (up to ~1500 lbs): 50% of the day

  • Bending to pick up objects: 100% of the day

  • Visual acuity to read printed information and screens: 100% of the day

  • Cognitive: able to make decisions and reason throughout the day


Work Environment / Safety


This job operates in a manufacturing facility. It is a safety-sensitive position with moving equipment and loud noise; temperatures vary by season and outside conditions.


Shift / Hours


Shift schedule will be determined at time of hire and communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays may be required based on business demands.
