What the day will look like on one of our actuarial teams

We offer four paths from which to choose, each with an outstanding opportunity as you begin your career:

Retirement Consulting (SOA Exam Track)

Pension and retirement plans have evolving financial implications for employers. Actuaries in retirement consulting work directly with client management teams to assess the costs associated with these commitments. You will have access to areas in your first months, including annual pension valuations and related analyses.

Responsibilities Include

  • Crafting projections (stochastic and deterministic) of long-term financial information for pension and other post-retirement benefit plans.
  • Coordination of asset-liability analysis and other studies with investment consultants.
  • Merger and acquisition due diligence and related activities.
  • Design and costing of new retirement programs.
  • Programming innovative pension administration systems.
  • Pension benefit calculations for participants.
  • Union negotiation support and analysis.
  • Quantitative comparison of comprehensive employee benefit programs for groups of employers.

Health And Benefits Consulting (SOA Exam Track)

Employer-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs form the foundation of the U.S. health care system. H&B actuaries support consultants and engage with clients to develop comprehensive benefit strategies and identify fresh solutions to employer problems.

Among The Various Areas Of Exposure Are

  • Evaluation of plan design and costs relative to benchmarks and rate-setting for self-insured plans, including analysis of medical and prescription drug network changes.
  • Employee contribution rate development and scenario analysis, plan renewals evaluation, and carrier bid assessments.
  • Valuation of retiree medical and disability plans.

Risk Consulting (CAS Exam Track)

Aon Global Risk Consulting provides actuarial services to clients across risk quantification and analysis. Activities include loss forecasting, actuarial reserves for financial statements, regulatory support, and evaluating total cost of risk.

Additional Projects May Include

  • Supporting analytical work including data management, loss forecasting, accruals, self-insurance analysis and cash flow analysis.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to support brokerage business and proposal development.
  • Preparing and maintaining client documentation and improving data/process quality.

Reinsurance Actuarial Consulting (CAS Exam Track)

Team members support clients across client projects and internal research, developing proficiencies in standard and advanced analyses and getting familiar with Aon’s tools and approaches.

Additional Activities Include

  • Collaborating with brokers, analysts and others to identify client needs and opportunities.
  • Data handling for reinsurance analyses and pricing, including cost-benefit evaluations of risk transfer.
  • Learning about reinsurance contracts and communicating results to brokers and clients.
  • Taking initiative on internal projects to improve processes, products or services.

How This Opportunity Is Different

These roles are part of the Early Careers Development program, named 'Launch.' It is a 12-month program with in-person and virtual sessions, networking opportunities, self-study, and leadership exposure to set you on a fast track to becoming a future leader.

Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success

Launch colleagues are collaborators with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You will work well in a team, apply research skills, and use Microsoft Office and quantitative methods on sophisticated projects.

Applicants should graduate between Spring 2025 and Spring 2026 and have a GPA of 3.0 or above with a concentration in actuarial science, statistics or related field. Preference is given to those who have passed at least one actuarial exam.

Other

Salary range for this position (U.S. applicants): $68,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual salary depends on education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and geographic location.
