Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is to provide first-response medical care for guests and Team Members who suffer illness or injury on Company property. The EMT responds to accidents involving guests or Team Members, and writes thorough reports that document the circumstances and care given. The EMT is also responsible for seeking ways to prevent business disruption, injuries, and prohibited conduct on the Company premises, while minimizing hotel liability.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide first-response medical care for sick or injured guests and Team Members and ensure the appropriate continuation of care.
- Thoroughly document medical incidents involving guests and Team Members, while seeking ways to minimize The Company’s possible exposure to liability.
- Maintain and ensure proper operation of all medical equipment.
- Take proactive steps to prevent injury by identifying, addressing, and resolving any unsafe conditions.
- Provide a highly visible Security presence to determine crime and undesirable activity, by maintaining a constant patrol.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents on The Company property and actively participate in mitigation efforts as directed by Security Management.
- Apprehend and physically detain subjects involved in criminal activity on property, at the direction of Security Management.
- Respond to incidents and take accurate/thorough notes; write detailed Security reports which may be used in legal proceedings and law enforcement investigations.
- Assist with normal Security operations at the discretion of Security Management to provide for the safety and protection of guests, Team Members, and property.
- Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
- Actively seek out and approach guests who may have questions or concerns, while providing excellent guest service in accordance with The Venetian Resort standards.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
All Venetian | Palazzo Team Members are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times, observing the Company’s standards, work requirements, and rules of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age.
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Southern Nevada Health District Emergency Medical Services, CPR card, Nevada Driver’s License, Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration, and Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card, among other required certifications or licenses. A National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians license is preferred.
- Prior work experience in Emergency Medicine or related fields preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
- Intermediate computer skills, familiar with programs such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Ability to write factual, detailed, and thorough reports.
- Must exercise discretion and good judgment while performing duties.
- Ability to react professionally and rationally to emergency and pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with guests and Team Members of different backgrounds and experience levels.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Lift or carry 46 lbs., push/pull 100 ft/lbs., in specific tasks.
- Administer CPR.
- Access all areas of the property, including climbing stairs, with or without accommodations.
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching overhead, lying down, crawling, knee-standing, pushing, and pulling.
- Climb in and out of a company vehicle.
- Stand and walk for up to 2 hours at a time, 4 to 6 hours daily.
- Sit up to 4 hours at a time.
- Drive a truck up to 60 minutes at a time, approximately 3 hours daily.
- Maintain composure under pressure while providing high-level guest service.
- Interact effectively with guests, management, and outside contacts.
- Perform eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity tasks.
- Work indoors and outdoors, exposed to environmental factors like noise, dust, and smoke.
- Handle supplies safely, maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
