Job Summary

Oversees money flow in and out of the store, and processes customer transactions for products or services sold in the office. Provides leadership of office personnel and promotes customer service by assisting with locating products, conducting price verifications, and providing efficient checkout services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train and develop partners, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work in conjunction with upper management.
  • Oversee store compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and other governmental money regulations by reviewing money orders, check cashing, and Western Union activities.
  • Conduct daily office audits, prepare and verify bank deposit records, and run reports as needed.
  • Maintain accurate money count in drawers, balance cash registers, and manage safe funds.
  • Investigate and identify store overages and shortages and report to upper management.
  • Review cashier transaction reports for variance and alert the Store Director of concerns; organize and maintain office records.
  • Coordinate with retail support personnel to research and resolve office-related issues.
  • Generate, maintain, and balance records detailing purchases and transactions; complete and file necessary documentation.
  • Remain current on tender policies and procedures related to checks, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, WIC, AML, etc.
  • Process requests for Western Union, money orders, lottery tickets, coin redemptions, refunds, equipment rentals, etc.
  • Perform office activities such as ordering office supplies, assisting cashiers, answering calls, and coordinating email communications.
  • Access product codes and stay familiar with ad and special items.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws regarding sales of restricted items (e.g., tobacco, alcohol, cannabis-based and pharmaceutical products).
  • Provide friendly, customer-service oriented assistance by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to complaints.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment by following Company safety procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of state laws regarding sale of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery, as applicable.
  • Advanced knowledge of anti-money laundering and government regulations related to monetary transactions.
  • Advanced knowledge of office procedures and systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of tender policies and cash register operations.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others; effective written and verbal communication; courteous customer service.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attention to hazards and the ability to place warning signs or remedy hazards; report unresolved hazards to a supervisor.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and two or more years of related experience required.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
  • Must obtain HIPAA certification through Company LEARN program within 2 weeks of starting in role.
  • Must obtain Tobacco/Alcohol certification (TABC/LACT/AATC) through Company LEARN program within 2 weeks where applicable.
  • Must obtain AML certification through Company LEARN program within 2 weeks of starting in role.

Physical Demands

  • Continuously required to use close and distance vision, depth perception, or the ability to focus.
  • Continuously required to stand or walk.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, and use hands for reaching, touching or handling.
  • Occasionally required to push, pull, or lift objects up to 40 lbs and up to 75 lbs in some circumstances; may bend, kneel, or squat.
  • Attendance at work is required.

Work Context and Environment

  • Work is generally performed in a retail store with a quiet to moderate noise level.
