Position Overview
An Accountant plays a fundamental role in maintaining the financial health of an organization. This position involves managing daily accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting the broader financial goals of the company. The ideal candidate will possess an analytical mindset, impeccable attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
As an Accountant, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
General Accounting
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and accounts.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial reports.
- Post and process journal entries in compliance with company policies.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Manage accounts payable by verifying invoices, processing payments, and maintaining vendor records.
- Handle accounts receivable by issuing invoices, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
Budget and Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted figures, providing actionable insights.
Compliance and Audit
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Assist with audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification (or progress toward certification) is a strong advantage.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or a related role.
- Experience with accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite, is preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
This is a remote position. The candidate must be self-directed and available during normal working hours. This role may involve occasional overtime during peak financial periods, such as fiscal year-end closings.
