About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team at the Health Support Center. This role is integral to our financial operations, supporting the end-to-end general ledger close processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful financial analysis to hospital leadership. The Senior Staff Accountant will collaborate closely with hospital finance teams, external stakeholders, and the internal technical accounting team to facilitate accurate reporting and continuous process improvements. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, with occasional exposure to hospital environments, and plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our healthcare network.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in healthcare or corporate accounting. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets, and excellent communication abilities are essential. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and healthcare regulatory standards such as HIPAA. Experience with joint venture accounting and budget processes is preferred. The successful applicant will be a proactive problem-solver with the capacity to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the comprehensive general ledger close process for designated hospital sites and entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of close checklists and post-close review certifications.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and standardization of accounting procedures across the organization.
  • Maintain a controlled and compliant close process, including managing checklists and post-close activities to ensure adherence to organizational policies.
  • Perform detailed profit and loss (P&L) and balance sheet analysis for assigned sites/entities, providing insights and explanations for variances.
  • Assist hospital leadership with post-close analysis, operational reviews, and reporting, including participation in Management Operating Reviews (MOR).
  • Provide direct support to hospital finance teams during the close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Accounting team and hospital leaders to resolve complex accounting issues and ensure proper treatment of transactions.
  • Manage joint venture accounting, reporting, and distribution processes for sites engaged in joint ventures, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Support hospital budget processes by summarizing and analyzing annual budgets, forecasts, and projections.
  • Assist in post-close review and analysis, explaining hospital projection trends, variances, and financial performance.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and healthcare regulations.
  • Oversee balance sheet integrity through periodic reviews and management of post-closing review activities.
  • Provide clear explanations for monthly, quarterly, and annual variances in general ledger accounts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a liaison for external auditors and regulatory agencies, providing required financial reports and documentation.
  • Work closely with hospital leadership to align operating metrics with organizational strategic goals and financial objectives.
