Job Summary: We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our remote finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational accounting knowledge and direct experience within the mortgage industry to contribute to our continued success. You'll play a vital role in supporting our financial operations, with a focus on retail branch performance and overall profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Execute month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciling the general ledger.
  • Track and analyze retail branch P&L statements, identifying and explaining variances and trends.
  • Collaborate with branch managers and leadership to analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investigate financial discrepancies, proposing solutions to correct them.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Lead and support internal and external audits and tax preparations.
  • Lead the development and improvement of accounting processes and procedures.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a mandatory focus on the mortgage industry.
  • Proven experience working with an IMB is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of branch P&L statements and their key components.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas).
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Loan Vision) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
