Overview
Overnight Security Guard - Loss Prevention Officer at AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, located on the UT campus. Overnight shift, with nightly availability required (including weekends).
Responsibilities
- Foot patrol of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to identify potential security and safety risks; evaluate situations and direct actions as needed.
- Maintain order, assist guests with issues (e.g., door lock problems), coordinate rapid response to emergencies (fire or safety hazards) in a calm, rational manner; enforce hotel policies and laws as warranted for safety of guests, employees, patrons and property.
- Greet incoming associates and conduct temperature checks; remind associates to complete daily health screening forms.
- Answer security calls and respond based on priority; prepare shift-related information (house count, conventions, arrivals and departures).
- Monitor life safety systems, know building layouts, and report pertinent information from each shift.
- Observe monitors for unusual activity and report suspicions or alarms through proper channels.
- Administer CPR and First Aid as required.
Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position; work schedules may vary to reflect hotel business needs.
Supportive Functions
- Provide accurate information to inquiries for directions and hours of operation.
- Receive, record and secure found property; assist guests with lost property inquiries.
- Assist guests with door lock and in-room safe issues using appropriate handheld devices.
- Escort guests and employees to parking areas as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required; prior security, law enforcement or military experience preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; good hearing and vision to observe emergencies.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; capaz of lifting up to 50 lbs; able to climb stairs and ladders; comfortable working in extreme temperatures.
- Effective communication in English (listening, speaking, reading, writing); tact and diplomacy to defuse tense situations.
- Nightly availability including Weekend shifts (10:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
Grooming: All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. Additional language ability is a plus.
