Overview
Security Guard/Membership Clerk - Murrayville Woodson (Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois)
Base pay range: $15.00/hr
Responsibilities
- In cooperation with the Site Director, oversee and monitor the daily atmosphere and physical premises of the satellite site.
- Provide assistance and supervision to program participants, including ensuring that each child is properly signed in and out daily and that participants are in the correct locations at all times.
- Assist BGCCIL staff with participants who are disruptive or exhibiting behavior issues; monitor students under disciplinary action; ensure accurate reporting of attendance in the MyClubHub system.
- Implement guidance and discipline policies; maintain standards of conduct; assist with records related to participant discipline and development.
- Support development of program offerings and identify community resources/volunteers to assist with programming.
- Assist in planning and leading program activities and field trips that relate to program areas; promote participant involvement in educational, recreational and leadership activities.
- Represent the organization and communicate policies, objectives, standards and programs to participants, parents, and the public.
- Help maintain cleanliness and appearance of the facility by encouraging participant involvement and proper storage of supplies.
Additional Responsibilities (Security-specific)
- Assist parents in locating their child at pick-up; help staff transition children between activities; coordinate with transportation for bussed participants.
- Support Site Director and staff with additional duties; track daily attendance and participant whereabouts; diffuse escalating situations between participants or parents.
Relationships
Internal: Maintain contact with Site management to interpret and explain organizational missions, program objectives and standards; coordinate with Site Director and Director of Satellite Operations to ensure policy consistency.
External: Maintain positive relationships with school district personnel, parents, and the public to resolve issues and publicize programs.
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of youth development; ability to motivate and guide youth through positive relationships; demonstrated care and respect for participants.
- Availability: Monday–Thursday, program hours starting as early as 1:30 pm and extending to 6:30 pm, plus planning time as requested.
- Ability to relate to the general public, parents and BGCCIL participants in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.
- Ability to convey BGCCIL policies and procedures and implement appropriate guidance and discipline policies.
- Ability to organize and supervise participants to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Enthusiasm, energy and commitment in interactions with participants, parents, supervisors and the public.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting and standing as needed; full use of limbs and at least one hand; full verbal, color vision, and hearing ability.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to intervene in a fight or manage youth aged 6 to 18; driving a motor vehicle preferred (with a valid IL driver’s license).
Working Conditions
- May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions; moderate to loud noise; potentially dangerous situations including youth fighting or bringing unauthorized materials onto premises.
- Potential exposure to medical emergencies, airborne diseases, or injured participants; risk of vehicle accidents when driving or riding in agency vehicles.
- Exposure to risk of injury during athletic or recreational activities.
Pay & Benefits
- As of 01/2025: this role pays $15/hour.
- Eligible for paid time off in accordance with Paid Leave for All Workers Act and company policies.
