Summary

The Journeyman Electrician will work within a team to perform a variety of tasks required to operate utility PV systems, including preventative maintenance, construction, and commissioning of solar farms. Responds to corrective maintenance cases to troubleshoot, test, and repair as needed.

  • Update the site superintendent if the PV system is not set up correctly before the end of construction.
  • Verify that equipment and systems are installed according to contract documents, manufacturer recommendations, and industry best practices.
  • Perform DC and AC testing, including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, and insulation resistance testing.
  • Identify unsafe work or operating conditions and take proper actions to neutralize hazards.
  • Ensure that vehicles, tools, electronics, software, and company property are accounted for.
  • Work as part of a solar farm crew on an as-needed basis with the Construction department.
  • Cut, bend, thread, and run electrical conduit materials.
  • Perform wire pulling and management.
  • Experience running rigid conduit.
  • Be able to bend offsets, 3 points, 4 points saddles, 90-degree bends, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Operations & Maintenance department to ensure scheduled maintenance is performed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Require 4-5 years of experience as a commercial journeyman electrician.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a commercial electrical helper.
  • NABCEP PV Installer certification preferred.
  • 2-4 years of verifiable electrical installation experience.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and standard practices.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to read electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Willingness to travel, work on-call during off-hours and weekends.
  • Must comply with safety standards, PPE required (hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, and walk for 8-10 hours daily.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
