Mid-Level OSINT Analyst (Language Enabled)

BTS is seeking a Mid-Level OSINT Analyst (Language Enabled) to join the team in Quantico, VA. Overview : Conduct OSINT activities in response to Government Request for Information (RFI) or tasking by the OIC, including working with the Government to clarify and refine the RFI, collecting, exploiting, and analyzing online open-source information, and preparing a report in the format required by the task, with minimal supervision using commercial internet, NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and SCINet systems and tools. Required Education, Experience, & Skills : Desired Experience: At least 8 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to the specific labor category, with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years. Desired Education: Bachelor’s degree in an area related to the labor category from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Languages: Chinese (Mandarin) or Russian. Candidates must have a current language testing score of 3+/ 3+ within the last 5 years. What You'll Bring : A working knowledge of the concepts involved in the specific functions outlined in the specified job description. Be knowledgeable of and demonstrate the ability to apply IC and DoD classification guidelines and procedures. The ability to work semi-independently with oversight and direction. The ability to use logic when evaluating and synthesizing multiple sources of information. The understanding of interpreting analysis to include, but not limited to, its meaning, importance, and implications. The ability to defend analytic judgments with sound, logical conclusions and adapt analytic judgments when presented with new information, evolving conditions, or unexpected developments. The ability to produce timely, logical, and concise analytic reports, documents, assessments, studies, and briefing materials. The ability to communicate complex issues clearly in a concise and organized manner both verbally and non-verbally, with strong grammar skills. The ability to develop structured research including, but not limited to, obtaining, evaluating, organizing, and maintaining information within security and data protocols. The ability to recognize nuances and resolve contradictions and inconsistencies in information. Working knowledge using complex analytic methodologies, such as structured analytic techniques or alternative approaches, to examine biases, assumptions, and theories to eliminate uncertainty, strengthen analytic arguments, and mitigate surprise. The understanding of intelligence collection capabilities and limitations, to include but not limited to, technical sensors / platforms and human intelligence sources related to the labor category. The understanding of evaluating collected intelligence reporting, engaging with collection managers, and developing collection requirements. What You'll Do : Conduct OSINT activities in response to Government Request for Information (RFI) or tasking by the OIC, including working with the Government to clarify and refine the RFI, collecting, exploiting, and analyzing online open-source information, and preparing a report in the format required by the task, with minimal supervision using commercial internet, NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and SCINet systems and tools. Populate and maintain databases in support of and in conjunction with Data Analysts and Data Scientists. Document types and structure of open-source data, analyze and mine data to identify patterns and correlations, map and trace data from system to system or source to source, design and create data reports. Assist the OSINT Team in using and evaluating available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) tools. Employ COTS tools to aggregate, structure, visualize, and assess available open-source information; infer and assess the relevance, veracity, and credibility of the information and its source. Employ managed attribution (MA) software and associated online tradecraft while executing OSINT collection activities; demonstrate an understanding of the limitations of MA tools. Develop innovative ways to combine data from different tools to provide analytical results that are of greater value and relevance to Operational Forces. Train and mentor Marines in OSINT tradecraft and best practices, including the ability to administer MCIA’s Expeditionary OSINT Course. Identify, develop, and formalize new OSINT tradecraft and other SOPs to meet mission requirements. Leverage language skills and cultural/area knowledge in support of OSINT activities to include Arabic, Farsi and/or Persian, Korean, Mandarin, and Russian, with a DLPT score of 3/3 or better (DLPT score no older than 5 years upon hire date). Develops open-source research strategies to support specific information gaps. Manually search for, exploit and analyze a variety of online open sources to include media, social media, academic literature, videos, maps etc. in target language to augment information acquired through other sources and/or to fill information gaps. Use various tools and methods to determine authenticity and currency of information acquired from the Internet. Create reports using Word and PowerPoint to convey research findings; generate Open-Source Intelligence Reports (OSIRs). Verbally brief findings and research methods to various consumers. Use language skills to conduct searches and translate foreign articles, journals, and other forms of media into English. Participate in meetings, conferences, and exercises. Candidates will have completed a joint-accredited OSINT course.
