Overview
Our client in Dallas, TX is seeking an Accounting Manager on a direct hire basis.
Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr
Additional compensation types Annual Bonus
Responsibilities
Review monthly journal entries and financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Prepare and review monthly & quarterly general ledger account reconciliations and variance analysis for resolution.
Support preparation and review of quarterly and annual statutory statements (Blue Books), including schedules and exhibits in accordance with statutory accounting principles (SAP).
Support coordination of GAAP and STAT Audits.
Review State Pages, State Premium Tax Returns, and other state regulatory filings (Federal/State Income Tax Withheld, Unclaimed Property Filings, etc.).
Oversee submission of all statutory reports and ensure deadlines are met.
Support implementation of new regulatory requirements; new lines of business and acquisitions; new reinsurance partners (assumed/ceded).
Collaborate with state examiners, external auditors, and senior management.
Provide daily cash management support as needed (primarily backup).
Stay current with emerging and updated NAIC accounting standards.
Provide recommendations to strengthen internal procedures and improve efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
5+ years of recent experience in Insurance Financial Accounting and Statutory Reporting.
Strong knowledge of US statutory insurance/reinsurance accounting and regulatory reporting.
Experience in preparing and reviewing Life insurance company financial statements on a statutory basis required.
GAAP basis reporting preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining work papers, financial statements, and schedules.
Excellent computer proficiency, including MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Advanced Excel skills a plus.
Team player with excellent oral and written communication and research capabilities.
Highly organized with strong prioritization abilities.
Analytical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset.
Skilled at building and maintaining internal and external working relationships.
Ability to manage, supervise, train, and mentor accounting team members.
Capable of coordinating activities across all areas of the organization.
Must be able to work onsite Monday-Friday.
