About Us Our mission is to invest in education in Loudon County, Tennessee by enriching lifelong learning, encouraging professional development and emphasizing business and community participation. Our goal is for Loudon County to become known statewide for its educational excellence and achievements. The Loudon County Education Foundation (LCEF) was established in 1988 by the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce in response to the community's expressed need for educational support. Originally a program of the Chamber, the LCEF has since become a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is to act as a conduit between community business and industry, and the education system, supporting teachers, students, and innovative programs through grants, scholarships, and fundraising initiatives.

Position Summary The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of the Loudon County Education Foundation (LCEF). The ED is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and growth of the Foundation in accordance with its mission, vision, and strategic goals as set forth by the Board of Directors (BOD). The ED has the authority to manage day-to-day operations and acts as the authorized representative of the BOD unless otherwise specified.

Reporting Structure The Executive Director reports directly to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and is accountable to the full Board. The ED provides regular updates to the Executive Committee and reports formally to the Board at its scheduled meetings (monthly and more).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Mission Delivery & Program Development

Lead the implementation of programs and initiatives aligned with the Foundation’s mission.

Develop and evaluate programmatic goals and outcomes, report progress monthly to the Executive Committee. Strategic Leadership Collaborate with the Board to establish long-term strategic plans and short-term operational goals.

Monitor trends in education and philanthropy to keep LCEF relevant and effective.

Fund Development Design and lead comprehensive fundraising efforts, including: Annual Giving Campaigns

Major Gifts (individual and corporate) Planned Giving

Special Events

Grants

Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Ensure proper donor stewardship, including acknowledgments and relationship management.

Work with the bookkeeper, CPA, and Board Treasurer to: Maintain accurate financial records

Prepare and manage the annual budget

Present financial reports to the Board

Ensure timely and accurate filing of all legal, regulatory, and tax documents

Organizational Management

Supervise all staff, contractors, and volunteers; manage human resource functions in compliance with applicable employment laws.

Establish administrative and operational policies to ensure efficient use of resources.

Maintain secure, organized records including historical and financial documentation.

Marketing & Communications

Oversee the creation and dissemination of print, digital, and social media communications.

Serve as a visible and vocal ambassador for the Foundation in the community.

Board & Committee Support

Prepare and distribute agendas and materials for Board and committee meetings.

Attend all Board and committee meetings; may serve as secretary if needed.

Ensure compliance with nonprofit governance standards and organizational bylaws.

Community Engagement

Serve as a liaison between LCEF and Loudon County’s Boards of Education and public schools.

Attend school events, civic and community functions, and county commission meetings to promote the Foundation’s visibility and mission.

Other Duties as Assigned

Perform additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by the Board of Directors that are consistent with the role and scope of the position.

Terms of Employment

This is a part-time, remote position.

The Executive Director is expected to attend and support all Foundation-related events, including those held in the evenings or weekends.

This job description may be revised at the discretion of the Board of Directors based on evolving needs.

Employment is at-will, meaning that either the employee or the Foundation may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, consistent with applicable laws.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant non-profit experience.

Proven experience in nonprofit leadership, development, or a related field.

Demonstrated success in fundraising, including major gifts, events, and grant writing.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and community engagement.

Experience managing staff, volunteers, and organizational operations.

Knowledge of financial and budget management in a nonprofit context.

Strong and diverse social media and computer experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Primarily office-based with frequent off-site meetings and events.

Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally for event setup.
