Salary : $4,243 per month (SR-16, Step D)
Note:
Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Duties Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill entry level professional positions in a variety of programs, such as but not limited to the employee retirement system, public housing, and departmental administrative offices.
As an entry level trainee, the employee receives on-the-job training in the principles, concepts, work processes, methods and techniques, and reference materials fundamental to aspects of the professional work to be performed, and orientation to the goals, objectives philosophies, etc. pertinent to the assigned program. Work assignments are clear-cut, routine, and are selected and designed to develop the employee in preparation for work at a higher level.
Upon completion of probation and continued satisfactory job performance, the successful employee will be expected to progress to the authorized (higher) level of the positions in the assigned program.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization To Work
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Note:
Applicants who will graduate with a bachelor’s degree within three months, and will meet the minimum qualification requirements upon their graduation will be accepted for examination. If selected for an appointment, you will be required to submit your official transcript or diploma confirming your graduation.
Progressively responsible administrative, professional or other analytical work experience that provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.
The education or experience background must also demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
Driver's License:
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement:
As required by the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), Federal law states that "....an agency shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates and who:
Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution. Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse. Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above. Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
