Job Summary
The Supply Chain and Inventory Manager oversees the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of inventory operations within a warehouse and distribution center network. This role ensures optimal stock levels, resolves discrepancies, and leads process improvements to support supply chain performance and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Oversight
Monitor inbound and outbound inventory transactions
Validate packing slips and reconcile discrepancies
Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical audits
Track slow-moving and high-turnover items for optimization
Data & Reporting
Maintain inventory databases and generate standard reports
Forecast inventory needs based on demand trends and lead times
Analyze expiration dates, shrinkage, and replenishment cycles
Warehouse Coordination
Supervise receiving, storage, and order fulfillment processes
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely replenishment
Leadership & Process Improvement
Train and mentor junior warehouse staff
Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance inventory workflows
Qualifications
15-20 years supply and logistics management experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in WMS, SAP or similar inventory systems
Strong analytical and organizational skills
High school diploma required
Background
Retired E6–E8 with relevant military experience, such as:
Army: Unit Supply Specialist
Navy: Logistics Specialist
Air Force: Material Management Specialist
Working Conditions
Position is primarily warehouse-based, with standard business hours; occasional overtime may be required during peak periods, physical inventories, or urgent replenishment needs.
Work involves extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, and operating warehouse equipment, as well as computer use for data entry and reporting.
May require collaboration across multiple departments and coordination with vendors or logistics partners outside regular hours.
Work environment includes warehouse and distribution settings, with moderate physical demands and adherence to safety protocols.
Travel may be required to support inventory audits, training, and operational needs at other warehouses or distribution center locations .
