Private Equity Associate / Senior Associate
A growing private equity firm is seeking a full-time Associate or Senior Associate to join its investment team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with senior professionals and portfolio company management across all stages of the investment lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, business acumen, and communication skills to support investment evaluation, execution, and portfolio management. Key Responsibilities: Investment Evaluation : Screen and assess new opportunities by reviewing investment materials, drafting diligence questions, and aligning with firm criteria. Transaction Structuring : Build and utilize financial models to evaluate scenarios, analyze financial statements, and assess creditworthiness and return profiles. Investment Analysis : Conduct due diligence, organize and visualize data, and prepare investment memorandums highlighting key theses and risks. Industry & Market Research : Perform market analysis and expert interviews to understand industry dynamics and growth potential. Portfolio Management : Monitor portfolio company performance, assist with valuations, and support fund reporting and communications. Stakeholder Engagement : Participate in meetings with investment committees, management teams, financing partners, and intermediaries. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or MBA in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. 2-6 years of experience in private credit, mezzanine finance, investment banking, valuation, commercial banking, or similar. Strong financial analysis and modeling skills. Business intuition and critical thinking to assess and mitigate risks. Ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams effectively. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently or in small teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professionalism in representing the firm externally. About the Firm: The firm is a lower middle market private equity manager focused on direct investments. It manages multiple active funds and is currently raising its next fund. Investment targets typically range from $3-12 million in mezzanine and equity capital, supporting growth initiatives, buyouts, and generational transitions. The firm invests in companies with $10-100 million in revenue across a variety of industries, primarily in the Great Lakes region and surrounding states. Base pay range: $120,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
