Get to Know Your Team: Our facility is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital featuring a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU. Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant: Responsibilities The Medical Assistant Certified (CMA) provides outstanding patient care while performing both clinical and administrative tasks, including: Entering, maintaining, and reporting medical history and coding within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Greeting and preparing patients for examination, which includes taking vital signs and documenting medical history accurately. Recording and updating patient information, including vital statistics and any changes in health status. Performing venipuncture and ECGs as ordered by the physician. Collecting, preserving, and accurately labeling lab specimens. Ensuring patient comfort, safety, and privacy during examinations. Assisting the physician during exams. Explaining medical procedures and providing medication and dietary instructions to patients. Preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and ensuring examination rooms are clean and organized. Managing inventory and stocking supplies in exam rooms. Handling referrals and insurance authorizations, as well as coordinating with pharmacies, labs, and hospitals. Administering injections and monitoring refrigerator temperatures for vaccines and medications. Qualifications Job Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program. Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); must be obtained within three (3) months of hire. Basic knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office. BLS Certification. Preferred Job Requirements Associate's degree. 1+ years of experience in a hospital or physician practice setting. Pay Range Minimum: $18.31/Hr. Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include additional pay components such as differentials and call pay based on the role.
