Dollar Tree Stores In the position of Director of Strategic Category Management, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Category Managers and Sourcing Analysts to shape and implement procurement strategies and best practices that optimize Dollar Tree’s sourcing activities and strategic vendor relationships. You and your team will work closely with business leaders in your aligned categories to understand their needs and develop comprehensive category strategies that align with overall business objectives. Furthermore, you will be responsible for driving the execution of these strategies through strategic sourcing and supplier management activities. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a customer service focus, and a proven track record in strategic sourcing and procurement leadership roles Principal Duties and Responsibilities Support the process of hiring, retaining, and developing talent to build a best-in-class Strategic Sourcing & Procurement organization Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Category Managers and Sourcing Analysts, ensuring the professional growth and personal development of the team Implement, innovate, and champion continuous improvement for Strategic Sourcing & Procurement procedures, processes, and systems Develop and maintain strong relationships with business leaders and Dollar Tree executives Communicate strategies, priorities, goals, challenges, and results to key business partners Maintain a relentless focus on customer experience and enable the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement team to be viewed across the business as a critical value driver Conduct in-depth competitive market trend analysis to keep current on new suppliers, lines, categories, recent technologies, strategies, and market trends Provide guidance & thought leadership to develop and execute comprehensive category strategies that address the unique needs of the business and enable the accomplishment of the business’ objectives Develop and implement supplier management best practices that foster partnership with key suppliers to drive innovation, quality improvements, and overall performance Create and maintain multi-year strategic sourcing roadmaps that align with business objectives, optimize spend, and generate cost savings Lead strategic sourcing teams through complex sourcing efforts and negotiations, working with cross-functional teams such as legal to ensure compliance and mitigate risk Minimum Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (Business or related field), MBA is desirable. 10+ years of Sourcing / Procurement experience and at least 7+ years of experience leading teams Experience leading procurement, strategic sourcing, and/or category management teams in a large, complex organization Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, internally and externally Demonstrated expertise in sourcing and deep understanding of procurement policies, procedures, and strategies Technical expertise in aligned spend categories, as applicable. Demonstrated ability to influence internal stakeholders and build effective partnerships. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and guiding a team towards achieving great results Expertise and relevant sourcing experience related to common spend areas within the following categories: Supply Chain, Facilities Management, Construction, and Store/DC Operations Benefits Medical insurance Vision insurance 401(k)
