Overview Primary Purpose: Provides leadership for Operations Data Services (ODS), a federated analytics center of excellence. Responsibilities include: management oversight of data architects, developers, and project managers; partnering with operational leaders to identify and deliver sustainable, visually insightful data solutions (with benchmarking when appropriate); and collaborating with Enterprise Data Services (EDS) for organizational data strategies. Analyze data to compare performance against industry standards or competitors, identify improvement opportunities, and help develop strategies to enhance business performance.

Minimum Specifications Education

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related discipline required.

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

Seven (7) years of experience working with complex data sets and various data models in a clinical EHR environment.

Five (5) years of proven success building, implementing, and supporting EHR systems.

Experience with SQL databases (e.g., MS SQL).

Prior experience leading data and information governance forums focused on operational solutions.

Experience implementing data models and managing interface development and application interoperability.

Previous experience managing staff at multiple levels within a complex organization.

Preferred

Epic EHR proficiency, including utilities and reporting capabilities.

Experience with Business Objects.

Experience implementing reporting dashboards.

Experience with large, diverse data sources (big data).

Epic software certification and/or application proficiencies preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to convey complex information clearly across disciplines.

Coaching and influencing for results; strong project planning, scheduling, and budgeting skills.

Ability to prepare and evaluate complex datasets to support data governance needs.

Strong interpersonal, analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and standards; sound business acumen.

Proficient Microsoft Office and adaptability to learn new software; understanding of client-server and web-based environments.

Responsibilities Operations

Lead the consolidation of reporting by identifying disparate reporting groups and developing collaborative business processes.

Assist in establishing enterprise data standards, terminology, definitions, formulas, and a source of truth.

Provide guidance to the division’s report writers; ensure reports and dashboards are maintained and aligned with data standards and governance practices.

Offer subject matter expertise on data governance, mining, exchange management, and reporting.

Direct project prioritization, timelines, budgets, and resource forecasting to achieve goals.

Partner with sponsors and stakeholders to develop and retrieve reports as needed.

Stay current with data governance trends and integrate knowledge into practice.

Strategy

Propose operational reporting strategies and data standards with IT, COEs, and leadership.

Develop long-term and short-term data and report management strategies and organizational development goals.

Regulatory

Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines; develop internal controls to ensure compliance.

Develop processes to maintain regulatory and accreditation compliance; conduct routine audits and remediate gaps as needed.

Collaborate with leadership and Compliance to respond to inquiries and ensure timely information delivery to regulatory bodies.

Fiscal Management and Operating Budget

Oversee financial performance for assigned areas; monitor budgets and implement plans to address variances.

Consider operational and financial implications when recommending new programs or changes.

Manage staffing within established targets.

Talent Management

Recruit and retain diverse talent; foster an inclusive, collaborative, and engaged work environment.

Oversee orientation, ongoing education, competency verification, and HR metrics; ensure timely performance appraisals.

Mentor and develop staff; monitor engagement survey participation and ensure licensure/certifications are current.

Professional Accountability

Operate with integrity and in line with Mission, Vision, and Values; adhere to policies and complete mandatory requirements timely.

Maintain confidentiality and address ethical concerns appropriately.

Job Accountabilities

Analyze jobs and workflows to improve effectiveness and efficiency; stay abreast of industry developments.

Develop and monitor annual department budgets and goals aligned with Parkland’s mission.

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate employees; manage performance and development opportunities.
