Digital Media Content Creator & Communications Manager (75429)
Iona University’s Marketing & Communications team is seeking a highly creative and motivated communications professional to lead dynamic storytelling across digital, video, print, and social platforms. This position combines strategic communications, multimedia production, and content management to amplify Iona’s brand, elevate the University’s distinction, and authentically engage students, alumni, and the broader community. The ideal candidate is a strong content creator—an exceptional writer, storyteller, and digital producer—who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings ideas to life through compelling narratives, videos, photography, and social media campaigns. Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Storytelling Conceive and execute engaging content for web, social, email, press releases, and print publications. Conduct interviews with students, faculty, alumni, and partners to highlight the Iona experience. Ensure all content reflects Iona’s voice, values, and brand standards. Assist with writing and storytelling for Iona Alumni Magazine. Multimedia Production Plan, film, and edit videos for social media, digital ads, admissions campaigns, and other key communications. Capture high-quality photography and video to support marketing, media and other initiatives. Manage and organize a digital media library. Social Media Strategy & Management Develop and implement creative content strategies across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube). Write and schedule posts using tools like Sprout Social. Monitor trends, track engagement, and adapt strategies for maximum impact. Lead, mentor, and collaborate with student social media ambassadors and graduate assistants to generate authentic, student-focused content. Communications & Public Relations Draft press releases and media pitches to engage the external audience. Collaborate and manage internal email communications to engage the campus community. Monitor media coverage and stay on top of trends. Support event promotion and other key initiatives. Collaboration & Leadership Partner with University stakeholders to produce impactful stories. Provide creative direction, feedback, and guidance to student workers and interns. Collaborate with senior MarCom staff on campaigns and strategic priorities. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or related field. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with knowledge of AP Style. Experience managing social media platforms, trends, and analytics. Strong photography and video production skills, including DSLR/audio equipment and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro and Photoshop. Ability to multi-task, manage projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 2 years of professional experience in public relations, content creation and/or journalism preferred.
