Interviews patients to obtain necessary information under general supervision. Prepare admission/registration forms and perform other clerical/computer operational tasks related to the admission of inpatients and outpatients at the Medical Center. Performs admitting functions using systems such as RTM, Meditech, and Bedtracking; communicates with RN, Clinical Unit Coordinator, and Admin Coordinator. Answer incoming calls within three rings and make outgoing calls as requested; respond to call bells and communicate with Tech and/or RN. Ensure patients are scheduled for testing on time; arrange for proper ambulance transports for transfers when needed; copy paperwork for transfers to other facilities; order dietary trays as requested. Maintain accurate logs of calls and ensure admission, ED physician, and on-call physician lists are up to date; update broken equipment/equipment repair log. Complete downtime paperwork and perform other clerical duties as assigned; stock paper in copiers/fax machines. Manage patient movement, including bed changes and returning patients as requested. Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED. Experience: 6 months’ experience; Emergency Department or Hospital experience preferred. Skills: Knowledge of medical terminology; computer literacy; strong oral and written communication; data analysis for statistics/logs/reports; customer service; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
